Good to Know

Information That Will Help You Enjoy Your Yoga Experience at Dancing Cranes.

Payment.
We accept cash and checks.  Only. (Susan sometimes takes dark chocolate.)  Payment can be made before the start of class, so please arrive a few minutes early.

Coming and Going.
The street-level door is open 30 minutes before the start of each class.  Come on up.
The upstairs door is often left open for a bit after class starts.  If you arrive after class begins and see that we're meditating or relaxing in shavasana, please wait for a natural transition in the class before entering the room.  If the door is closed please open it carefully and set yourself up with mat, etc. as quietly as you can.

Dancing Cranes Door On the Right

First-Time Students.
You'll be asked to sign a standard release form which we will keep on file at the yoga center.
If you have medical conditions or physical challenges, please arrive early to speak personally with your instructor about limitations and modifications.

Yoga Paraphernalia.
We provide mats, straps, blocks and blankets.  You are also welcome to bring your own.

The Tea Room.
Also doubling as The Prop Room, there's a quick-heating electric teakettle and an assortment of tea available for you either before or after class.  We also offer spring water and, in the warmer weather, chilled herbal tea or low-sugar lemonade.  In the winter months you may find a plate of ginger cookies.

Kundalini yoga students will often be treated to hot yogi tea (a type of chai) in the cold weather (definitely in January!) ~ and the rest of you will at some point also.

Our Yoga Space.
Our space can comfortably hold 12-15 students. This kind of class size is juuuuuuuuuust right.

You may need to come to class a few minutes early to set up in "your spot".

We are not about yoga for the masses, but yoga for the individual.

We were taught by our teachers that the relationship and energetic exchange between student and teacher is essential for yoga to be both understood and experienced in all of its depth and vastness.  We follow that tradition in our own teaching.

Suggestions.
If something about what we do (or don't do) in our yoga space doesn't work for you ~ if you see a way of doing it better ~ if you'd like us to try something out and see how it goes ~ Talk To Us!
In yoga we are in relationship with each other.  We are open to feedback, exchanges of ideas, and cooperative efforts.
It's relatively easy to be dissatisfied with something external to you and just Walk Away From It.  It requires character and commitment to approach it as a puzzle to be solved, an opportunity to be stepped into, and to enlist the efforts of others to make it work better for everyone.

Is there a workshop you'd like to see us offer?  A specialty teacher you'd like to see us host?  A new class you'd like to see on the schedule ~ or a current class at a different time?
     Let Us Know!

And Finally ~
"You are the truth, from foot to brow.  Now, what else would you like to know?"
